A message from the Chairman
The Department of Pediatrics at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital and Case Medical School has a proud and long-standing tradition of providing training that has produced pediatric leaders at the local, national, and international levels. In our constantly evolving and challenging health care environment, we recognize and emphasize the critical role of the pediatrician as a practitioner, educator, investigator, consultant and family counselor.

We have four integrated training programs that include: Pediatrics, Med/Pediatrics , Genetic/Pediatrics and Pediatrics/Child Neurology.

Our large and diverse group of Faculty , which represents all the pediatric medical and surgical sub-specialties, is enthusiastically dedicated to their roles as teachers and mentors for pediatric trainees. Their devotion to our residents is the key to the program's success. We are committed to providing our trainees with the comprehensive knowledge base and skills required of the 21st century pediatrician. Each house officer individualizes from a broad-based educational program which permits personal and professional growth. We promote the development of problem-solving skills, clinical judgment, critical thinking, and academic excellence through exposure to all aspects of child development, preventative medicine, and the care of acute and chronic illness. These experiences are enhanced by our warm and nurturing atmosphere and our modern hospital with predominantly single patient rooms.

Furthermore, the proximity of an adult hospital and school of medicine ensures the availability of all the modern technology, the full array of consultants, as well as the stimulation of our outstanding medical students. We provide an environment in which each individual house officer is given the maximum opportunity to achieve his/her potential whether he/she chooses an academic or clinical career path. Our house officers thrive in teams. As they progress through the program, the house officers gain increasing responsibility in their teams, and ultimately they lead the teams.

We look forward to meeting with you so that you may experience our exceptional program first-hand.
