They are the bane of every traveler's itinerary - and even the most intrepid of adventurers aren't immune. The parasites that frequently infect visitors to remote and developing nations around the world can, at best, ruin a long-anticipated holiday. In some situations, parasitic infection can be deadly. We're committed to helping your vacations be safe and disease-free. The primary function of the Geographic Medicine Division is to research the immunology of parasitic diseases (with an emphasis on tropical medicine), bringing the study of diseases in developing countries into the mainstream of biomedical research. Our goal: to create the immunizations that will result in eradication of parasitic diseases.
