- Developing improvements to inter-operative spinal cord monitoring to prevent spinal cord damage during surgery, and to analyze problems of neurological injury;
- NIH appointments in the study of head and neck injuries;
- Developed new techniques in anesthesia that led to faster recoveries and reduced length of hospital stays;
- Pioneering anterior approaches to thoracic disk herniation.
