For Referring Physicians

Among the millions of patients that UH serves each year, over 200,000 are referred by physicians from all over the world. Prompt communication with referring physicians is critical; therefore we have established the Physician Referral Department which expedites and safeguards the flow of information.

Physician Referral Department staff are available to answer calls Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM EST. (After 4:30 PM, you may leave a voice mail, which will be returned the following morning.) The Department routinely helps health care professionals:

  • access the knowledge and expertise of UH Case Medical Center departments and faculty;
  • coordinate referrals;
  • discuss atypical or problematic cases;
  • order specialized tests;
  • confirm a diagnosis, or
  • determine where to send medical records.
