Breast Cancer Treatment - Radiation Therapy

Radiation therapy is used after a lumpectomy to the affected breast. Treatments may also be given after mastectomy to the chest wall. Treatments are 5 days a week for 5-6 weeks. Radiation therapy is often used in more advanced stages of the disease to treat local recurrences or spread to other parts of the body.

Computerized treatment planning allows radiation oncologists at Ireland to deliver treatment safely and effectively, focusing directly on the tumor and sparing healthy tissue as much as possible.
