Overview
Pregnancy is an exciting time for parents-to-be.
Each step along the way—from the moment the pregnancy is confirmed through the sound of the baby’s first cry—brings parents closer to a new and thrilling life together.
At times—whether it’s because of a mother’s new or existing condition or a complication with the unborn baby—a woman and her child will be considered “at high risk.” This means that special attention must be paid throughout the pregnancy to both mother and baby to ensure a safe delivery.
The Maternal-Fetal Department at MacDonald Women’s Hospital specializes in high-risk pregnancies, and takes advantage of the latest treatments and technology to ensure the health of mother and baby.
About 900 women a year are referred to our Maternal-Fetal Department to receive state-of-the-art care.
