Rainbow's Center for Chronic Conditions of Childhood assembles a team of health care professionals to work closely with families and children facing chronic or long-term illnesses. The team trains parents and caregivers to better handle their child's long-term needs, with the goal of reducing disease complications, the frequency of hospitalizations or trips to the emergency room, and days missed from school. The Center provides special programs - including those sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control, the National Institutes of Health, and major foundations - for families and children with chronic illnesses. The Center also works with community partners to provide services in community settings.
