WHAT
The Ride the Rainbow Gala is a benefit supported by the Board of Trustees of the Rainbow Babies & Children’s Foundation of University Hospitals Case Medical Center.  Held for the first time in November 2004, this biennial gala celebrates the achievements of Rainbow and serves as its largest fundraising event.  The contributions to Ride the Rainbow support the hospital’s mission: To heal. To teach. To discover.

The 2006 Ride the Rainbow Gala hosted nearly 1,200 people at The Great Lakes Science Center.  This event raised nearly $800,000, with proceeds benefiting three areas of excellence:  Neonatology, Children’s Cancer Center, and Children’s Heart Center.

WHERE
Public Hall, 500 Lakeside Avenue, Cleveland.

Public Hall is located in the central business district of downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Since it was opened in 1922, it has served as a concert hall, sports arena and convention center. Although it was planned and funded prior to World War I, construction did not begin until 1920. Designed by city architects J. Harold McDowell and Frank Walker of Walker and Weeks in a neoclassical style matching the other Group Plan buildings, it was the largest of its kind when opened, seating 11,500.  Public Hall has hosted many notable events, including the 1924 and 1936 Republican National Conventions, and the 1993 Cleveland Orchestra 75th anniversary concert.
