In 2006, more than 2000 children ages 14 and under were treated in U.S. emergency rooms for injuries involving fireworks during the fireworks season, which runs from the middle of June until the middle of July. Children ages 10 to 14 have the highest rate of injury from fireworks.
Thomas Zenty endorsed the launch of the UH Stroke System Initiative on June 25, 2008. The initiative will be coordinated by Cathy Sila MD, Director of the UHCMC Neurological Institute Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center, and includes representatives from all of the fully owned and partner UH hospitals.
