Our residency program is constantly striving to provide an educational environment dedicated to the development of outstanding ophthalmologists. Our mission is to train outstanding Ophthalmology residents through excellent comprehensive education, clinical instruction, surgical experience, and research.
Program Overview
The didactic and clinical program for residents in ophthalmology integrates the faculty and facilities of its home institution, University Hospitals Case Medical Center, along with the county hospital, MetroHealth Medical Center, the Cleveland Department of Veterans’ Affairs Medical Center, and community-based St. Vincent Charity Hospital. Coordinated with this program is an active and diversified research program in which residents may participate.
Clinical training reflects a progressive increase in medical and surgical ophthalmic knowledge and skills over three years. Strong didactics and diverse clinical experiences in our four hospitals ensures that each resident is well qualified to either enter practice following completion of the residency or pursue a fellowship.
