As part of the 2008 UH advertising campaign, we are introducing “The Health Difference”, which will run four times a month on Channel 3 News on Thursday nights 11pm and Sunday mornings at 9am.

“The Health Difference” will feature two-minute UH patient story segments and will highlight all the wonderful work that UH Doctors, Nurses and Staff accomplish every day.
For George, getting older doesn’t mean slowing down. In fact, after retiring from the Ashtabula police, he stepped out of one uniform and into the next as chief of the auxiliary police.

GeorgeIn recent years, however, he’s suffered from angina. Simply walking to the mailbox would leave him completely out of breath. That’s when George turned to the specialists at University Hospitals Heart & Vascular Institute for help. In treating his condition, UH Doctors used the very latest technique in cardiac therapy: the NOGA XP Cardiac Navigation System.

With it, doctors were able to inject George’s own stem cells into his heart with pinpoint accuracy. This revolutionary process helps alleviate angina and other forms of heart disease by generating growth of new blood vessels. And UH Case Medical Center is the first hospital in Northeast Ohio to use it.
