Inaugural Adolescent & Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Symposium
 “Let’s Band Together”

On June 13, 2008 various leaders, health care professionals, clinicians and others met in
Cleveland, Ohio to discuss ongoing efforts in the fight against Adolescent & Young
Adult (AYA) Cancer. The daytime Symposium and the evening reception to follow was
presented by UH – Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital’s Ireland Cancer Center and Rise
Above It (RAI).

Nationally recognized experts, with a wide range of expertise and backgrounds, presented the
importance of giving special attention to this age group (AYA, defined as ages 15-39) and ways to
bring better awareness to the issues facing AYA cancer patients, families and caregivers.

The Inaugural AYA Cancer Symposium proved to be an excellent opportunity to bring more
attention to our shared cause and was used to learn and share new ideas on approaches and
therapy for the AYA population now and in the future.

Our goal is to continue to provide the very best care and explore numerous, positive techniques that will serve a demographic in dire need.

Special thanks to our volunteers, attendees and distinguished speakers that made this extraordinary event possible.
