Why Are Rubber Bands Sometimes Used With Braces?
My son is getting braces and the orthodontist said he may have to use them with rubber bands. Why are rubber bands sometimes needed with braces?
– Josh
Rubber bands are sometimes needed with braces to move the teeth in a different direction than the braces can move them on their own. If your orthodontist recommends rubber bands, it's important to be sure that your child uses them consistently and changes them daily. When used appropriately, rubber bands can play a big part in straightening teeth.
